Dubbed DRIVE Sustainability, the partnership is comprised of heavy hitters BMW Group, Daimler AG, Honda, Jaguar Land Rover, Opel/Vauxhall, Scania CV AB, Toyota Motor Europe, Volkswagen Group, Volvo Cars and Volvo Group.

Mars Inc. Aligns Sustainability with Business Goals

Global food manufacturer Mars Inc. recently made public the fact that the global carbon footprint from its extended supply chain is equivalent to a country roughly the size of Panama. But last week, the company announced its new commitment to reduce its GHG emissions from its full value chain by 27% by 2025, and by 67% by 2050 (from 2015 levels).

New Goodyear rubber procurement policy to guide supply chain development

In spite of alternatives such as guayule and Russian dandelion, the Hevea brasiliensis tree will remain an important source of rubber for tyre manufacturers. The Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company recognises this and has announced a new natural rubber procurement policy. The tyre maker says this new policy “reflects its strong commitment to the responsible sourcing of raw materials” and believes its implementation and adherence will help address deforestation, land grabbing, and human rights in the areas of the world where natural rubber is produced.

The Foreign Minister Julie Bishop has told Commonwealth leaders meeting in London that Australia will be a world leader in tackling modern slavery when, as expected, new legislation passes Parliament this year.

Leading UK frozen food specialist Iceland plans to axe all palm oil from its own-label products by the end of this year, with 130 products to be reformulated. The company says the project is “well underway,” with palm oil already having been removed from 50% of its own-label range.

But it is this expanding breadth of the definition of sustainability -- and the efforts to account for it -- that is ultimately reshaping both the movement and the software.
