The SDGs Should Be Like a Chocolate Advent Calendar

The SDGs Should Be Like a Chocolate Advent Calendar | Sustainable Procurement News | Scoop.it
Undoubtedly, the SDGs are a groundbreaking framework that has united businesses and world leaders behind a shared vision of what a sustainable world looks like, which is incredible. But as a communications tool, I think they're flawed. Collectively, the Goals are too big and overwhelming to resonate with the average person — in the same way that talking about any international framework would be. People simply don't think and behave in numerical grids.

Are Your Favorite Jeans Part of the Climate Problem?

Are Your Favorite Jeans Part of the Climate Problem? | Sustainable Procurement News | Scoop.it
Sadly, instead of increased transparency and commitments, fashion CEOs are hiding behind greenwashed PR campaigns, like the disappointing announcement made by Levi’s, Gap, Guess, Wrangler, and Lee at a New York climate week event this past autumn. CEOs of the world’s famous denim brands said they would announce climate targets in two years, a deadline far longer than necessary to complete a basic step. While these CEOs continue to delay the climate commitment process, denim supply chains are continuing to pump carbon dioxide into the atmosphere without recourse.

According to you, what can be done to drive more sustainable denim supply chain?

The food industry in 2018 - bolder aims, broader horizons for sustainability

The food industry in 2018 - bolder aims, broader horizons for sustainability | Sustainable Procurement News | Scoop.it
So far, the food waste debate has centred on wastefulness in food industry supply chains. While efforts to tackle food loss in the supply chain will continue in 2018, the increased onus being placed on clearer labelling could be pivotal. The "call to action" to establish standardised food date labelling by 2020, announced by the Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) and Champions 12.3 in September, is an important step forward. Further initiatives on food waste at a collective and company level are certain to follow during 2018.
