A blockchain platform has been launched by WWF-Australia to trace products throughout supply chains. WWF-Australia has partnered with BCG Digital Ventures (BCGDV) to create OpenSC, which tracks food and products and enables businesses and consumers to avoid produce linked to environmental damage and unethical practices such as slavery.

Hong Kong lawmaker vows fresh push for UK-style anti-slavery law | Sustainable Procurement News | Scoop.it

A Hong Kong lawmaker vowed on Wednesday to launch a renewed push for an anti-slavery law, warning that there was "no room" for delay as thousands of victims are trapped in the city. There is little support within the Hong Kong government for a new slavery law but lawmaker Dennis Kwok said he had been lobbying international groups, including the United Nations, to put pressure on city officials.

Some 10,000 people are living in modern slavery in Hong Kong, according to the Global Slavery Index 2018 by the charity Walk Free Foundation.
Human trafficking, essentially modern slavery, happens all around the world, even in developed countries such as the United States, and poses risks to companies across all industries. At the same time, however, businesses are in a unique position to help eradicate human rights violations, improve millions of lives globally and protect their operations by implementing sustainability collaborative platforms.
