With that in mind, the company has built a new sustainability strategy that will guide the company in its future business operations. The strategy focuses on environmental stewardship, workplace and communities, and a circular value chain. Sustana says it hopes to create a “sustainable, closed-loop fiber future,” and believes it can achieve this future through collaboration, transparency, and strategic decision-making and measurement.

Impact investment funds should be measured more strictly to ensure they are transparent about how much good their money is doing, the OECD said on Thursday, a day after a hoax letter on environmental investments hit global headlines. The funds, which promise social and environmental benefits as well as financial returns, could do more good if proper international standards were in place, said the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development in a report.

Companies should contribute to economic, social and environmental development with the aim of achieving sustainable development. The OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises recommend that enterprises conduct due diligence in order to identify, prevent or mitigate and account for how actual and potential adverse impacts are addressed.

A blockchain platform has been launched by WWF-Australia to trace products throughout supply chains. WWF-Australia has partnered with BCG Digital Ventures (BCGDV) to create OpenSC, which tracks food and products and enables businesses and consumers to avoid produce linked to environmental damage and unethical practices such as slavery.

The British unit of Swiss insurance giant Zurich has launched a new accreditation scheme to encourage its suppliers to adopt sustainable business practices. The Supplier Accreditation Scheme is designed to help Zurich UK increase transparency in its own supply chain by measuring and tracking its suppliers’ environmental and community activities and scoring them accordingly. Companies could be awarded gold, solver or bronze accreditation depending on their approach to sustainability.
