How PepsiCo closes the sustainability loop with reusable packaging | Sustainable Procurement News | Scoop.it

The food and beverage giant is designing containers with reuse in mind, prompting new ways of thinking about packaging, reverse logistics and KPIs. Loop, a new reusable packaging system, aims to reduce waste by enabling consumers and manufacturers to recycle packaging in an easy, seamless and efficient manner. Loop was founded by waste management company TerraCycle and several CPG companies, including Procter & Gamble and Nestlé.

KFC working with suppliers to cut plastic

KFC has pledged that all its plastic-based packaging that reaches the consumer will be recoverable or reusable by 2025. The chain said the goal supported its long-term plan to implement a more sustainable packaging strategy in its restaurants by developing and using sustainable packaging options and eliminating plastic packaging items.

Nestlé announced today that it is joining forces with other industry partners to build a fully recyclable, compostable fiber cup as part of the NextGen Consortium and Cup Challenge. This announcement follows a series of initiatives and concrete steps taken by Nestlé to accelerate action to tackle plastic waste, in line with its commitment to make 100% of its packaging recyclable or reusable by 2025.
